1. 元宵节 The Lantern Festival

元宵节是庆祝中国新年的最后一天，也就是大年十五(the 15th of the first month of the lunar calendar),Lantern在中文中是灯笼的意思。

元宵节的习俗是看灯会，猜灯谜(Lantern Riddles)，吃元宵(glue pudding,sweet dumplings)。

2. 清明节 Tomb-sweeping Day

清明节在每年的新历4月4日到4月6日之间，是中国人传统的祭祀节日，也就是平常说的扫墓，所以英文当中才有tomb-sweeping。“清明时节雨纷纷，路上行人欲断魂。”

清明还有一个习俗是踏青(Spring outing)，清明时正是春回大地的好时光，是郊游的好时候。

3. 端午节 Dragon Boat Festival

端午节在每年的农历(The lunar calendar)五月初五。

端午节的几个习俗是划龙舟（Dragon Boat Race），挂菖蒲和艾叶草（Hanging Calamus and Moxa），吃粽子(Zong zi/ Rice Dumplings)。

4. 七夕节 The Double Seventh Festival

七夕节是每年的农历七月初七，所以英文名中有一个double seventh，是传说中牛郎(The Cowherd)和织女(The Weaving Girl)一年一度相会鹊桥的日子。

也是我们中国的传统情人节(Chinese Valentine's Day)。

5. 中元节 The Ghost Festival

中元节就是我们国家的鬼节，传说到了这一天，阴间会释放出很多恶鬼。

所以有七月半，鬼乱窜一说。在这个时候，人们常常有放河灯，焚纸锭的习俗。鬼魂都到了人间，人们要为他们举行祭祀，并且放河灯为他们照明回到阴间的道路。

6. 中秋节 Mid-Autumn Festival, Moon Festival

中秋节是人们团聚的日子，家人在这一天聚在一起吃月饼(mooncake)赏月，还有放天灯(Floating sky lanterns),舞火龙(Fire Dragon Dances)等习俗。

7. 重阳节 Double Ninth Festival

重阳节在每年的农历九月初九，又称“老人节”，这一天人们会登高(Climbing Mountains)，这个时候秋高气爽是爬山的好时节。

赏菊花、(Enjoying Chrysanthemum Flowers ),喝菊花酒(Drinking Chrysanthemum Wine),吃重阳糕(Eating Double Ninth Cake),插茱萸(Wearing Dogwood)。

这一天，在外工作的游子们都赶回家过年，和家人们在一起吃饭聊天，守岁(Staying up)，到了午夜时放鞭炮(Setting off firecrackers),爆竹声中一岁除。
