The Wonderful Time I Spent on The Lantern Festival
Today is the fifteenth of the First Lunar Month. It is the Chinese
Lantern Festival. It’s cold, sunny and windy. The temperature is about
5 degrees centigrade above zero during the daytime and 2 degrees
centigrade below zero at night.
Early in the morning, I heard loud explosions of firecrackers coming
from far and near. For breakfast we ate dumplings. They are actually
in the shapes of round balls which are slightly larger than the marble balls
we often play with. They are made of glutinous rice with sweet fillings
wrapped inside. When being boiled, they will float on the surface of the
boiling water. They tasted sweet and sticky. I ate a bowlful of these sweet
balls.
In the evening I carried a lantern and went out to play with my
schoolmates. The lantern was lit and it was as bright as an electric
bulb. When the moon rose up, we all looked at it. It looked round, cold
and beautiful. Afterwards I hung the lantern on a tree branch and then
we all danced around the tree singing songs and shouting slogans. I felt
