I am very happy to hear that you are going to learn Chinese.Learning Chinese just like learning other language, is hard work so if you want to learn Chinese well you'd better spend lots of time on it every day and take every opportunity to practice using Chinese. You should take a Chinese course so that you can learn faster with the teacher's help. What's more, you'd better listen to Chinese programs and read Chinese magazines and books. I am sure if you study hard and have good ways of learning Chinese, you will learn it very well. Hope to hear your good news.

i am drastically glad to hear from you and honored to give my proposals for Chinese learning.
firstly,it is of utmost importance to creat a relaxed and cozy Chinese practising environment ,in which you do can improve yourself.secondly,concidering Chinese is a language,you must spare time for reading or writing or just skimming over some Chinese articles .remember stick to it though you are as busy as a bee.
in brief,language is after all a medium of communication.as long as you use it everyday and incorporate it into your daily life,you will make your own way.
