英国教育首要的就是“平衡”理念。这个理念和我国《新课标》所倡导的“面向全体学生，以人为本”的教育理念十分相似。“平衡”指的是教育者全面、客观、不偏不倚地帮助每一个学生健康成长，让学生在学习过程中感受到成功、自信、自我实现。
其次就是“创新”观念。英国教育十分重视学生创新意识和创新思维得培养。例如，高中的课堂教学中除了英语、数学、科学和信息技术（ICT）四门主课之外，还有人文课程（历史、地理）、美术、音乐、文体、园艺、烹调、陶艺、旅游与休闲、商业与经济、媒体、宗教等五花八门的课程。学生可以通过选修部分课程，在兴趣的基础上提升自己的创新能力。

第三是“团队精神”。一般来说，在大学里，无论是哪一门课都分为两部分，第一部分是教师讲授一些概念性或理论性的东西；第二部分就要求学生分组讨论。每一个小组要派一个代表发言，发言完毕后，老师或同学还要提问。这就要求小组各成员团结合作，齐心协力完成任务。
小组讨论或争论是大中小学最普遍的一种教学形式。在这样的教学形式中，学生的合作精神得到了极好地培养。
以下是我个人的观点：
相比较而言，因为人口众多，中国必须通过高考这一残酷的指挥棒选拔人才，这多少有些畸形的教育体制培养出了许多书呆子型学生。据一位我认识的在英国留学的同学所言，中国的教育使学生更为学术性但也更脱离生活实际。我衷心希望，中国可以借鉴西方的教育制度及其理念，让孩子们在学习中完善自身，使自我得到最大限度的实现。
