这句子是错的。首先on是介词，后面肯定是ing或名词性的,其他独立成份。这话要么这么说

不是吧，这句话貌似是错的，solving。而且后面加个定冠词the。solved做定语，这句话就根本解释不了的。
完整的是：they insist on solving the problem。
或者是：they insist on the problem solved。

solved是problem 的定语，动词加ed 就相当于形容词。这句话没有错，如果按照他们说的，应该是insist in doing sth,insist on sth 是正确的。
