Boniface went to Germany to teach German people the Christian faith.There,one December,he met a group of people standing under a tree ready to sacrifice a child to please their god in heaven.
Boniface insidted that the child should not be sacrificed,so he immediately saved the child and cut the tree down.At its foot among the bushes was a small fir tree.He cut the small tree and gave it to the people as a symbol of life.He called it the tree of the Christ-child.
In the middle of the nineteenth century,the Christmas tree was introduced into England.It became more and more popular from then on as part of the celebration of Christmas.
The story continues when Martin Luther,the famous German religious leader,cut a fir tree and took it home in the December of 1540.
