Other AICPA Functions
The AICPA supports research by its own research staff and provides grants to others. It also publishes a variety of materials, including journals such as The Journal of Accountancy, industry audit guides for several industries, periodic updates of the Codification of Statements on Auditing Standards, and the Code of Professional Conduct.
The AICPA is responsible for both writing and grading the CPA examination. Approximately 60,000 candidates take the examination each time it is offered. The content and other information about the examination were discussed in Chapter 1.
The extensive and ever-changing body of knowledge in accounting, auditing, attestation and assurance services, management consulting services, and taxed is such that continuous study is required for CPAs to stay current. The AICPA provides to its members a considerable number of seminars and education aids in a variety of subject matters. An example is a 2-day seminar entitled “Professional and Legal Liability of the CPA. ”
