成立于1870年的锡拉丘兹大学是一所独立的、拥有国际声誉的私立大学。大学位于离纽约市西北面大约280英里处的锡拉丘兹市，因平均年降雪量达2.89米而获名"雪城"，因而"雪城大学"就成了锡拉丘兹大学的别名。大学中心校区占地200英亩，学校多所建筑具有悠久的历史和独特的风格，其中15座建筑被列为国家级名胜古迹。 大学现有10，700多名学生就读于9个学士学位学院中，4，700名学生接受更高等的教育，学生来自全美50个州及全世界100多个国家和地区，大学拥有多年接受海外学生的经验。
