《Three days to see（假如给我三天光明）》
In stories the doomed(命定的) hero is usually saved at the last minute by some stroke of fortune (意外的幸事), but almost always his sense of values is changed.
He becomes more appreciative of the meaning of life and its permanent (永久的) spiritual values.
It has often been noted that those who live, or have lived, in the shadow of death bring a mellow (醇美的) sweetness to everything they do.
Most of us, however, take life for granted. We know that one day we must die, but usually we picture that day as far in the future.
When we are in buoyant (轻快的) health, death is all but unimaginable. We seldom think of it.
The days stretch out in an endless vista. So we go about our petty tasks, hardly aware of our listless attitude towards life.
The same lethargy (无生气), I am afraid, characterizes the use of all our faculties (能力) and senses.
Only the deaf appreciate hearing, only the blind realize the manifold (多种), blessings that lie in sight.
Particularly does this observation apply to those who have lost sight and hearing in adult life.
But those who have never suffered impairment (削弱)of sight or hearing seldom make the fullest use of these blessed faculties.
Their eyes and ears take in all sights and sounds hazily (朦胧地), without concentration and with little appreciation.
It is the same old story of not being grateful for what we have until we lose it, of not being conscious of health until we are ill.

The First Time That I Adjust My Attitude towards My Father
Hello,everybody.What's your attitude towards your father?Do you always have a good attitude towards him?My answer is no.
To tell you the truth,I had a bad attitude towards my father when I was young.He was always strict with me,He didn't allow me to buy everything I liked but to buy what I needed instead.He didn't allow me to play computer games much but an hour during weekends.He didn't allow me to go to school in his car.He asked me to go by bus instead.So at that time I thought he was not good for me and didn't love me.We had quarrels very often.We didn't get on well.I didn't repect him,didn't talk with him and even hated him.
But when I entered junior school,I began to know what my father had done was good for me.I felt sorry for him.I should not treated him in such a poor way.Then my attitude towards him changed.I began to speak to him,telling him everything happening in school.I cared for him so much.I helped to do the housework at home.I prepared tea for him when he returned home from work.My father felt surprised and asked,“boy,what do you do that for?”“Nothing”I replied,“Dad,I just do what I should as a son.”From then on,we were on good terms.

可以选一些演讲稿，因为演讲稿本身就是适合朗读的，不需要太难，另外时间较短的话可以选一些大家都知道的演讲稿的经典段子，只有大家都听得懂才会让人有兴趣继续听下去。新东方有四六级诵读精华上面也有一些不错的文章，而且难度比较适中，很适合参加不是很难的英语口语竞赛。个人认为朗读诗歌之类的会比较难，因为中国人一般都是chinglish，而且感情把握可能也会不到位，不太适合。
