即是及物动词也是不及物动词，意思不同，分别是：
及物动词 vt.
1.花(钱),花费[(+on/for)]

2.花(时间、精力)[(+on)][O4]
They spent three month touring Europe.
他们花了三个月时间周游欧洲。
3.度过;用尽
The storm is spent.

不及物动词 vi.

及物动词，常用句型“spend +时间/金钱+on sth " ,spend +时间/金钱+(in )doing sth.
eg. I spent ten yuan on the book./ I spent ten yuan (in) buying the book.
How are you going to spend your holiday?
eg. I spent ten yuan on the book./ I spent ten yuan (in) buying the book.
