if和whether哪个用得更多？

一、在表达“是否”这一概念时，下列情况通常要用whether 而不用if。

To this day, it's unclear whether he shot himself or was murdered. 

至今尚不清楚他究竟是饮弹自杀还是被谋杀。

二、介词后的宾语从句只能用whether ,不用if。

You can find out whether they are prepared to share the cost of the flowers with you 

你可以弄清楚他们是否愿意和你一起分担买花的费用。

三、引导主语从句（且放句首）、表语从句和同位语从句时，只用whether 不用if，不放句首的主语从句whether 和if 均可。

I don't know whether people will buy it or not 

我不知道是否会有人买。

四、直接与or not 连用只能用whether,不能用if ，不直接与or not 连用，whether、if 均可。

They now have two weeks to decide whether or not to buy. 

现在他们有两周时间决定到底买还是不买。

五、在discuss 后引导宾语从句时用whether 不用if。

六、在不定式之前只能用whether, 不能用if。

七、引导让步状语时，只用whether,不用if。
