两个都是far 的比较级，但是 farther 强调在距离上更远强调的是广度，而further 是强调在程度上更深远强调的是深度。
farther一般只用于表示有形距离的“较远”、“更远；further既可表示有形距离的“较远”、“更远”，也还可表示“更多的” “另一些” “进一步的” “而且” “此外”等等：

further用来形容抽象的远，不一定是真的距离上的远，可以指心灵上的远（但二者实际上距离很近）；

farther用来形容具体的远，使实际上距离上的远。
