语法：
in order to可以用在句首或句末，但so as to只能用在句中。
如：He got up very early in order to/so as to catch the first bus.In order to catch the first bus,he got up very early.（此时不能用so as to）

so as to do)是为了。。。以至于的意思

例句： He ran quickly so as to catch the last bus. 他跑得很快以便赶上那末班车。

The two lovers dropped back so as to be alone. 那对情人落在后面，为的是两人好单独在一起。

I left a message so as to be sure of contacting her. 我留下了张条子以便与她取得联系

其实从传统语法上讲 so as to 是不能用于句首的 但是在现在汉语中 尤其是非正式文体中，并没有那么严格要求。
不过，建议在正规的考试中，遵循传统语法的用法
