Giving is getting
Recently I read some articles about the disabled. I learned much from them and understood what we should do for the disabled.
It’s hard for the disabled to continue their lives, so people often give help to them. But when we give them help, whether do we consider what the disabled need or not? Many people think giving away some money to the disabled is the only one way of helping them. They think the disabled can’t make money, s in this way they can live a happy life.
In my opinion, on one hand, the donation can help improve their life, and solve some life problems; on the other hand, we should communicate with them and know about what they need besides the donation, for example, friends. We should care about them as a friend of theirs and often share our happiness or sadness with them.
In this way, the disabled can own what we have and live happy lives as us.
Giving others love is the best way of getting happiness. As it says: “giving is getting!”

On a cold November afternoon, my mother and I were walking home from a pizza store. I was feeling a little tired, as I carrying our shopping bags of snacks. They were so heavy that I decided to throw away some things. So I started to walk to the garbage can while I noticed a poor man took a paper bag with his dirty hand. He headed over to another nearby garbage can and started looking for it.
I suddenly felt very guilt because I was going to throw away a new drink just because it was heavy.
I knew this man would take all he could get. So I walked up to him and handed the drink and some snacks over to him. The man looked up in surprise and took what I gave him.
With a big smile on his face he said: “Wow, first someone gives me this sandwich, then this drink. And some tasty food; this is my son’s lucky day.”
With that, he thanked me happily. I got a warm feeling inside and I knew I had done something good. I now understand what it is meant by saying “Giving is getting”.
The image of that man’s happiness caused by my small present appears in mind every time I have the chance to do something nice.

Like most people, I was brought up to look upon life as a process of getting. It was not until in my late thirties that I made this important discovery : giving-away makes life so much more exciting. One discovery I made about giving-away is that it is almost impossible to give away anything in this world without getting something back, though the return often comes in an unexpected form. One Sunday morning the local post office delivered an important special delivery letter to my home, though it was addressed to me at my office. I wrote the postmaster a note of appreciation. More than a year later I needed a post-office box for new business I was starting. I was told at the window that there were no boxes left And then, in came the postmaster . He had overheard our conversation. “Wasn’t it you that wrote us that letter a year ago about delivering a special delivery to your home?” I said it was. “Well, you certainly are going to have a box in this post office if we have to make one for you. You don’t know what a letter like that means to us. We usually get nothing but complaints.”
