河源市是中国广东省的一个地级市，1988年1月7日经国务院批准设立。河源市位于广东省东北部，东江中上游，是客家人的主要聚居地之一。河源市东部与广东省梅州市、汕尾市交界，南部与惠州市毗邻，西部与韶关市接壤，北部与江西省相连。河源市的总面积为154平方公里，2002年人口为332万。
